PointSync® Mobile Connect
PointSync MobileConnect technology is a proven, robust and flexible synchronization technology that provides database-to-database synchronization for mobile devices. It offers fast bi-directional exchange of information between PointSync Mobile databases and PointSync Server using industry standard TCP/IP communications protocols. Synchronization Flexibility Developers can create complex rules to filter data with PointSync MobileConnect, partitioning both horizontally and vertically, to ensure that end users get only the data relevant to them. Priority synchronization enables independent control over when different data subsets are synchronized, enabling administrators to control & manage network bandwidth usage, which is particularly important for wireless or low bandwidth environments. Flexible Connection Options If your data doesn’t reach its destination either on the mobile device or PointSync Server, mobile workers lose visibility to the business. To help prevent this situation, PointSync MobileConnect uses standard TCP/IP communications protocols to synchronize over any available wired or wireless connection type. Connection types include cradle/sync cable (ActiveSync), Ethernet, WiFi, CDMA/GSM (cellular) and even satellite.
For businesses that deal with sensitive data in industries like healthcare, government, military, law enforcement and finance, PointSync MobileConnect supports built-in 128-bit encryption for synchronization communication, including SSL/TLS using RSA encryption compatible with HTTP server. To further increase data security, PointSync MobileConnect also contains built-in authentication that requires a username and password be communicated to and approved by the PointSync Server before any data is synchronized. Advanced Feature: User-Driven Synchronization Some mobile application scenarios require that the data synchronized to the mobile device be defined and triggered by actions performed by the user. When the mobile application is designed accordingly, these actions are converted to synchronization scripts and communicated to PointSync Server to indicate exactly what records are returned to the device. For example: The mobile application cannot store all patient information for security purposes. The mobile user selects the patient name and connects to the PointSync Server to obtain the remaining data for the selected patient.
